The Saint John Police were proud to welcome and host a talented group of Grade 9 students to “Take Our Kids to Work” day on November 5, 2025. Launched in 1994 by The Learning Partnership, Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized career exploration event in Canada.
Thousands of Grade 9 students across Canada join their parents, friends, or relatives at work to get a firsthand look at what a workday looks like in the workplace and what skills are important when pursuing various careers.
The group of students spent the day with Saint John police officers and sheriffs from Saint John Sheriff Services exploring the many distinct roles and career possibilities related to law enforcement.
“Opening our doors during this initiative to our employees’ children provides a unique insight behind the scenes of what it takes to be a Difference Maker as a member of the Saint John Police.” Chief R.M. Bruce
During their visit, students had the chance to ask questions, tour the facilities, and learn about the many different sections within the police department and courthouse.
We hope this experience inspired some of these young people to consider a future career in policing and serving their community.
High school students interested in a career in law enforcement can start preparing now by getting involved in their community through volunteering.
Together a safe, secure, healthy community
