The 2024 Canadian Police and Peace Officer 45th Annual Memorial, which is held annually on the last Sunday of September, will take place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario. This memorial service honours the memory of the brave men and women who gave their lives in the service of our communities across this great country. This solemn occasion focuses on remembering the sacrifice made by these unsung heroes and their surviving families.
In 1978, the first Memorial honoured 14 officers. In 2022, the names of 896 brave Canadians were engraved on 28 glass tablets lining the perimeter wall on Parliament Hill, overlooking the Ottawa River and the Supreme Court of Canada. These glass panels provide a lasting tribute to our heroes and ensure that future generations are reminded of the supreme sacrifices of our fallen members.
The New Brunswick Association of Chiefs of Police would like to remind everyone to take a moment this Sunday to remember all those who died in the line of duty proudly serving their communities with honour, dignity, courage, and dedication to public safety. Please remember the personal sacrifices made by the families left behind.
Taking the time to remember and recognize the sacrifice made by those who chose a life of service inspires others to serve.
We will always remember them and their families.
Chief Robert M. Bruce
President of the New Brunswick Association of Chiefs of Police
