The Saint John Police are seeking the public’s assistance in a shooting investigation.
It is reported that:
On Wednesday, May 07, 5:12 p.m., Saint John Police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the Mabee Road.
One female was arrested at the scene and remains in custody.
On Wednesday, May 07, 2025, at approximately 5:35 p.m., a Saint John Police officer was at a local hospital on an unrelated matter when a male arrived with what was believed to be a gunshot wound.
The victim told police he sustained the injury caused by an unidentified person while walking in a wooded area within Rockwood Park.
Police contained and evacuated a large area of Rockwood Park. Residences nearby were asked to shelter in place. An Alert Ready was issued based on the information at the time out of concern for public safety.
As a result of further investigation police were able to establish a connection between the victim that was shot and the report of shots fired on the Mabee Road. Based on the investigation police no longer believe there is an active threat to the public. There is sufficient evidence to believe that the incident did not occur at Rockwood Park. Residences are no longer required to shelter in place. Police are no longer searching the area.
Police remain on scene on the Mabee Road, and the Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
The victim remains in hospital in critical condition.
Saint John Police had resources deployed from Patrol Services, Emergency Tactical Services, Intergrated Enforcement Unit, Forensics Identification Unit, and the Major Crime Unit assigned to investigate incidents.
We would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience during this time.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area of Mabee Road that has dash-cam or video surveillance of this incident at the time it occurred.
