On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, a second suspect was taken into custody in relation to this incident. The second accused is a 26-year-old man. He was released from custody on an undertaking with conditions including to appear in court on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

The Saint John Police have arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with an aggravated assault and forcible confinement investigation.
It is alleged that:
On Friday, April 26, 2024, at approximately 1:51 p.m., a 42-year-old man was allegedly assaulted and held captive for two days at an encampment in the 100-block of Broadview Ave.
On arrival, emergency crews located the 42-year-old man inside the encampment. He was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers arrested a 37-year-old man. He was remanded to jail until Tuesday, May 28, 2024.
The Major Crime and Forensic Identification Unit continues to investigate. Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage or surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
