The Saint John Police have arrested a 58-year-old man in connection with an aggravated assault investigation.
It is alleged that:
On Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at approximately 3:53 p.m., a 56-year-old man was allegedly assaulted outside a business in the 100-block of Union Street between Charlotte Street and Sydney Street.
On arrival, emergency crews located the 56-year-old man unresponsive on the ground. He was transported to hospital and discharged on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
Officers arrested a 58-year-old man at the scene. He appeared in court on Thursday, March 7, 2024, and he was remanded to jail until Monday, March 11, 2024, to return to court for a bail hearing.
The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate. Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage or surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
