The Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.) have made an arrest in a drug trafficking investigation.
In June 2024, investigators began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled drugs and contraband tobacco.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, following an investigation, police arrested a 41-year-old man without incident.
Following the arrest, a search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of:
-102 packs of discount cigarettes (street value $510.00)
-17 percocet (oxycodone) (street value $85.00)
-24 hydromorphone 2mg (street value $120.00)
-$1675 Canadian currency
The 41-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking including oxycodone and hydromorphone, possession of illegal tobacco for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. He is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
The Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.) currently consists of officers from the Saint John Police, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and New Brunswick Justice and Public Safety.
