Arrest in Firearm Investigation

The Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit have made an arrest in relation to a firearms investigation.
It is alleged that:
On Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., undercover officers observed a man in the 100-block area of Charlotte Street (Uptown). The man was carrying a small bag that officers believed contained a firearm.
The 39-year-old man was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of a loaded and prohibited firearm. He appeared in court on April 19, 2024, charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of a court order. He was remanded to custody to return to court on Monday, April 22, 2024, for a bail hearing.

The Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.) consists of officers from the Saint John Police, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, New Brunswick Justice and Public Safety and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Their mandate is to target drug trafficking, weapons and organized crime offences.
