Arrest in Firearm Investigation

The Saint John Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with a firearm investigation.

It is reported that:

On Monday, August 7, 2023, at approximately 12:03 p.m., police responded to a report of a man armed with a rifle in the 50-block of Waterloo Street.

On arrival, officers located the 45-year-old suspect matching the description provided by the caller.

The suspect was arrested and found in possession of a .22 calibre rifle, ammunition and knives, all of which were seized. No injuries were reported.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on August 8, 2023, charged with unauthorized possession of a non-restricted firearm. He was subsequently released on an undertaking to return to court on September 5, 2023.
