The Saint John Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a robbery investigation.
It is reported that:
On Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a 26-year-old female who had been threatened with a knife and had her vehicle stolen in the 300-block of Prince Street.
There was a brief altercation between the suspect and the victim. The victim did not sustain any serious injuries, but the man did manage to take the victim’s car keys.
Shortly after the altercation, Saint John Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving the victim’s vehicle at the intersection of Water Street and Duke Street. The suspect had fled the scene on foot.
A member of the Saint John Police Canine Unit was called to the scene to assist in the search for the suspect. During the search, K9 Maverick led police a short distance away from the scene where a 27-year-old man was taken into custody without further incident.
The victim’s vehicle was seized from the scene by a member of the Forensic identification Section for further processing and examination.
The accused was held for court and is scheduled to appear on Monday, September 9, 2024.
