The Saint John Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with a robbery investigation.
It is alleged that:
On Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at approximately 3:08 a.m., a 63-year-old man was parked in his truck in a parking lot off Waterloo Street near Richmond Street.
The driver was approached by the suspect who assaulted the man and damaged his truck.
A struggle ensued and the suspect then assaulted the man with an edged weapon. The suspect stole the man’s wallet and fled on foot.
Police were called to the scene, but the suspect was not located. The man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later discharged.
The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Services were called to investigate.
On Tuesday, March 12, 2024, the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit and Patrol Services arrested the 38-year-old suspect for robbery, aggravated assault, and mischief under $5000.00. He was held in custody to appear in court on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
