The Saint John Police have arrested a 26-year-old man following a dangerous driving incident in the North End of Saint John.
It is reported that:
On Monday, August 26, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., the Public Safety Communications Center (PSCC) aired a call advising officers that an outside policing agency was requesting assistance in locating a vehicle in connection with a male believed to be suffering from a mental health crisis.
The vehicle was spotted multiple times in the north end of the city but attempts to stop it were unsuccessful. The vehicle was eventually located abandoned on the Westfield Road.
Further attempts to search for the suspect were made. A 26-year-old man was eventually apprehended in the 100-block of Bridge Street and arrested under the Mental Health Act, as well as for dangerous operation of a conveyance, leaving the scene of an accident, and failing to stop for police.
The accused was later released from custody on an undertaking with conditions, including to appear in court on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
