The Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.) have made six arrests following a 5-week drug trafficking investigation – Operation Snow 2.0
It is reported that:
On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the IEU, with the assistance of Patrol Services and the Emergency Tactical Services, arrested two women and four men for drug trafficking related offenses.
Following the arrests, two vehicles were searched and one search warrant was executed at a residence on Sandy Point Road.
As a result of the investigation, the following evidence was seized:
Substances believed to be approximately:
- 13.41 grams of cocaine,
- 19.33 grams of fentanyl,
- 22.6 grams of MDMA (Ecstasy)
- 1.5 grams of crack,
- A variety of pills including hydromorphone, methylphenidate, and oxycodone
- $390.00 Canadian currency
Total approximate street value of drugs seized: $10,660.00
A 37-year-old woman was arrested and appeared in court on Friday, March 1, 2024, charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking controlled substances and one count of proceeds of crime. She was held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on March 21, 2024, for election and plea.
A 45-year-old man was arrested and appeared in court on Friday, March 1, 2024, charged with breaching a court order and possession of cocaine. He had also been arrested for an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on two counts of trafficking cocaine. He has also been held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, March 4, 2024, for a bail hearing.
Two men, ages 34 and 37, and one woman, 36, were also arrested for drug trafficking related offenses and were later released from custody on undertakings to return to court on May 7, 2024.
A 33-year-old man was released without charges.
A search warrant was executed at the same Sandy Point Road residence on January 11, 2024, in connection with Operation Snow. See previous news release dated January 12, 2024.
The Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.) consists of officers from the Saint John Police, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, New Brunswick Justice and Public Safety and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Their mandate is to target drug trafficking, weapons and organized crime offences.
