Arrests in Firearm Investigation

The Saint John Police have made arrests in an early morning firearm investigation.

It is alleged that:

On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at approximately 7:45 a.m., a 29-year-old woman driving was driving her vehicle in the area of Duke Street.

While stopped at the intersection of Duke Street and Sydney Street, the occupant of an older green vehicle pointed a firearm at her. She drove away and called 911.

An officer searching the area spotted a vehicle matching the suspect description on St. Patrick Street. The vehicle was stopped by police and four occupants were arrested.

A 32-year-old man was found in possession of an imitation firearm. He appeared in court this afternoon, May 9, 2023, charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public. He was remanded to custody to return to court on Thursday, May 11, 2023, for a bail hearing.

A 31-year-old man was arrested for violating his parole and possession of a controlled substance. He remains in custody.

Two other men, ages 19 and 33, were released without charges.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
