The Saint John Police have arrested two men, ages 27 and 35, for two robberies over the weekend.
It is alleged that:

On Friday, February 2, 2024, a 36-year-old man arranged to sell a laptop over an online buy and sell platform. At approximately 7:15 p.m., he met two men on Taylor Avenue. One of the men sprayed him in the face with a chemical irritant, stole the laptop, and the suspects both fled on foot. The victim drove away from the area to safety where he was treated by paramedics for minor injuries. At that time, the suspects were not located, and the investigation was ongoing.

On Saturday, February 3, 2024, a 44-year-old man arranged to sell a laptop over the same online buy and sell platform. At approximately 7:20 p.m., he and two of his friends met with two men on Flemming Court. One of the men sprayed him in the face with a chemical irritant, stole his laptop, and the suspects both fled on foot. The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries. Officers, including the K9 unit, began searching the area for the suspects, who were located inside the basement of a nearby building.
The accused, ages 27 and 35, were arrested for both robberies. The 27-year-old man was held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, February 5, 2024. The 35-year-old man was released on an undertaking with conditions, including to return to court on May 9, 2024.
