Arrests in Stolen Vehicles

Two adults arrested over the weekend for possession of stolen vehicles.

It is reported that:

On Friday, November 3, 2023, at approximately 8:10 a.m., a 2021 Toyota Corolla was reported stolen from a business on Sandy Point Road. At approximately 6:25 p.m., an officer on patrol observed the stolen vehicle travelling eastbound on Union Street. Officers stopped the vehicle on Germain Street. As police approached the driver’s door, the suspect reportedly drove forward, collided with a parked police car, and then fled the area.  The stolen vehicle was later located abandoned in the parking lot of a business off Westmorland Road.  Officers, including PSD Maverick, began searching for the suspect who was located and arrested near Major Brook Drive for possession of stolen property, assault with a weapon, dangerous driving, and flight from police. The 19-year-old accused was remanded to jail and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, November 6, 2023. No injuries were reported.

On Saturday, November 4, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a 2018 Nissan Murano was reported stolen from Roberts Court in Saint John. At approximately 10:07 a.m., officers responded to a report that the stolen vehicle was driving erratically travelling eastbound on Rothesay Road towards Rothesay. The Kennebecasis Regional Police were notified and also responded. Officers located the vehicle, attempted to stop it on Rothesay Road when it lost control and drove off the roadway. The 24-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested, held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, November 6, 2023. No injuries were reported.
