The Saint John Police have arrested two men following the brief pursuit of a stolen vehicle carrying loaded firearms.
It is reported that:
On Thursday, March 14, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., an uncover officer observed a pickup truck driving recklessly in the Uptown area.
A marked police vehicle attempted to stop the vehicle, but it failed to stop and then turned into a driveway on Waterloo Street where the driver fled on foot into a nearby building.
Upon inspection, the truck was confirmed to be stolen out of the Codiac region. The 37-year-old male passenger of the truck was arrested.
The 40-year-old driver eventually returned to scene and was arrested.
A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of two loaded firearms and ammunition.
Both men were held in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Friday, March 15, 2024, for flight from police, possession of the stolen truck, and firearms related offenses.
