Arrests of Youths in Violent Crime InvestigationsĀ

The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit has arrested 6 youths ranging from 14-18 years old, as a result of a focused investigation into several recent violent crimes in the community, including the recent incident on Prince William Street that was captured on video and circulated on social media.
The youths, who cannot be named due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, have been arrested for multiple serious offences including:
- Robbery;
- Assault with a weapon;
- Assault causing bodily harm;
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
- Possession of stolen property;
- Administering a noxious thing; and
- Mischief under $5000.00.
Prior to their arrest, some of these individuals were on probation orders or deferred custody and supervision orders and will also answer to those charges.
The youths are scheduled to appear in Court at a later date.
