(ARRESTED) Attempted Robbery Investigation – Rothesay Avenue

On Friday, May 5, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., as a result of an on-going investigation by the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit, a 45-year-old man was arrested in St. Stephen with the assistance of the RCMP. He was arrested for the following offences:

File #23-2633 – arrested for robbery and disguise with intent that occurred on May 2, 2023, at a restaurant in the 300-block of Rothesay Avenue.

File #23-2400 – arrested for robbery and disguise with intent that occurred on April 21, 2023, at a restaurant on Somerset Street.

File #23-2254 – arrested for theft of a BBQ that occurred on April 17, 2023, on Parks Street.

The accused has been held in custody and he is expected to appear in court this afternoon, May 5, 2023.

The Saint John Police would like to thank the public and the RCMP for their assistance.

The Saint John Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect and two witnesses in an attempted robbery investigation.

It is reported that:

On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at approximately 6:44 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to an attempted robbery at a restaurant in the 300-block of Rothesay Avenue.

It is alleged that the suspect in the photographs had entered the restaurant demanding money while allegedly armed with a weapon.

The suspect subsequently left the restaurant without any money, but he was reportedly followed by two witnesses: a man and woman.

Police are seeking to identify the suspect in the photographs and are also asking the two witnesses to call police.
