Chief’s Youth Leadership Advisory Committee
The Saint John Police are committed to community engagement through interactions, input, feedback, ideas, and suggestions on how we provide policing services that not only meet the demands of our community but exceed expectations.
One important platform that we utilize is our advisory committees, both internally and externally. These advisory committees provide the Chief of Police and our organization with invaluable input on past, current, and future aspects of policing.
One of the segments of the population that is under-represented within our advisory committees is our youth.
In order to gain the critical perspective from a cross section of our community, the Chief is inviting young leaders between the ages of 16-22 years who want to make a difference in our community and have a say in the future of policing by joining the Saint John Police Chief’s Youth Leadership Advisory Committee.
The goals of the committee are to:
- advise the Chief of policing issues across the city and how they pertain to youth;
- provide feedback on policing and youth interactions;
- have a commitment to shared responsibility;
- foster better policing and youth relationships through open communication;
- enhance future policing initiatives through dialogue; and
- provide a safe space for young leaders to express their thoughts and ideas on how to make our community safer, more secure, and healthier.
The stronger the youth engagement, the stronger our community becomes.
Young people who are interested in taking on a leadership role beyond what they are doing today are encouraged to get involved.
The committee will meet quarterly at Saint John Police Headquarters located at 1 Peel Plaza, Saint John, New Brunswick. The Chief of Police and Neighbourhood Officers will also be in attendance.
Young people between the ages of 16-22 are encouraged to complete the application form if interested in being considered for this unique opportunity.
Note: Anyone under 18 years of age will require parental consent.
If you are a young leader who wants to improve police and community relationships, this committee gives you an opportunity to provide your input and have a say in the future of our city.
Note: Accepting applications until January 31, 2025. Applicants will be advised of the inaugural meeting date and time.
Together a safe, secure, healthy community
