Crime Analysis: Break and Enters – June 2023

Between May 25, 2023, and June 22, 2023, a total of 28 break and enters were reported to the Saint John Police.

The Saint John Police Crime Analyst reports that 26 break and enters were committed and 2 were attempted during this period; 6 were commercial, 5 were at construction sites, 5 were outbuildings (sheds/garages), and 12 were residential.

The “heat map” shown depicts the general location of these incidents.

Tools are being targeted in many of these breaks. The Saint John Police are recommending the following proactive measures:

  1. Ensure valuables at construction sites and in outbuildings are securely stored;
  2. Install burglar alarms, surveillance cameras and additional lighting in strategic areas to deter criminals;
  3. Record serial numbers and mark valuables/ tools with distinguishing marks so they can be identified;
  4. Report any suspicious activity to the Saint John Police.
