Impaired Driver Arrested Following Hit and Run

The Saint John Police have arrested a 19-year-old man for impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

It is alleged that:

On Monday, January 29, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a white Dodge Caravan driving erratically collided with a plow truck at the intersection of Coburg and Carleton Streets and then continued to drive away.

The original caller continued to follow the suspect vehicle that nearly collided with a responding police car.

The suspect vehicle was eventually blocked in by a loader clearing snow in the area of Tin Can Beach.

Police arrested the 19-year-old driver for impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. The suspect vehicle was seized by police.

The accused was later released from custody on an undertaking to appear in court on April 9, 2024.
