On Thursday, May 15, 2025, during National Police Week, the Saint John Police held our annual Awards and Recognition Ceremony. This event allows us the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the hard work and dedication of our uniform, civilian, as well as our community members who make a significant contribution to the Saint John Police vision of keeping our community safe, secure, and healthy.
Our Chief’s Difference Maker Award recognizes individuals for leading with compassion, inspiring positive change, and serving with integrity which are the pillars of an actionable difference that every community relies on. This year, the Saint John Police had the honour of presenting the award to the following difference makers:
Jen Brown, Executive Director of the Carleton Community Centre Inc. for her work in supporting, developing, and guiding youth at the Carleton Community Centre. Her dedication and the selfless contribution she makes to youth through programs reflects the meaning of leadership and civic responsibility.
Reverend Jasmine Chandra from The Stone Church and Chair of the Waterloo Village Neighbourhood Association for her dedication to the city of Saint John through her extraordinary commitment to our vulnerable population by opening The Stone Church to provide resources like basic nurse care, warmth, food, and referrals to mental health and addiction services. Rev. Chandra plays a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming space for the residents of the South End, Uptown, and Waterloo Village.
“I have had the distinct honour of working with Jen Brown and Reverend Jasmine Chandra first-hand and can attest to the tangible difference they make in our city. All of those, both sworn and civilian, recognized during the ceremony represent what we all aspire to be; selfless, courageous, and committed members of our community contributing to a safe, secure, healthy Saint John.” Chief R.M. Bruce
