The Saint John Police have taken a 29-year-old armed man into custody.
It is reported that:
On Thursday, April 20, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to a person in distress who was reportedly armed with a knife in the 100-block of Elliott Row.
Police arrived on scene and a 29-year-old man armed with a machete presented himself at the threshold to an exterior door of a building on Elliott Row.
Officers negotiated with the man in crisis for almost an hour before he stepped forward onto the sidewalk while armed with the machete.
Due to safety of the public and police, officers deployed a taser and safely took the man into custody. He sustained a minor injury and was transported to hospital for further examination.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
