(UPDATE 2) Police seek witnesses and video footage in fire investigation

Update 2: February 28, 2024, 3:48 p.m.

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate this arson. Detectives believe it is possible that the suspect vehicle is a 2002-2006 Toyota Camry with a sunroof, rear spoiler, and fog lights below the headlights. Anyone with information about the suspects or suspect vehicle is asked to call police.

The Major Crime Unit is releasing a video of what is believed to be suspects and a vehicle involved in setting the fire.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects is asked to call police. Detectives are still seeking additional witnesses and video footage.

The Saint John Police are seeking witnesses and video footage in connection with a fire investigation.

It is reported that:

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., emergency crews responded to a tent on fire in a parking lot between Waterloo Street and Exmouth Street.

It was alleged that:

-four people were inside a tent when it caught fire.

-witnesses heard something hit the tent before it caught fire and then heard a vehicle speed away.

All four people escaped the tent without injury.

Forensic Services were called to the scene to investigate. Major Crime is investigating the cause of the fire.

Detective are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage of the incident at the time it occurred.
