Police seeking public assistance in fatal collision involving pedestrian – Itty Bitty Way at MacLaren Boulevard

The Saint John Police are seeking witnesses in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a bus and pedestrian in the North End of Saint John.

It is alleged that:

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at approximately 6:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a collision between a Saint John Transit bus and a pedestrian at the intersection of Itty Bitty Way at MacLaren Boulevard.

The 71-year-old pedestrian, Wanda Ethel Roche, was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

There were a number of passengers on the bus at the time of the collision, but no other physical injuries were reported.

Forensic Services and Accident Reconstruction were called to the scene. Traffic was closed for several hours, and the bus was seized as part of the investigation.

The Saint John Police, in cooperation with the Coroner’s office, continue to investigate the cause of the collision.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam or video footage of the incident at the time it occurred.
