File: 23-7903

The Saint John Police are seeking witnesses and video footage in connection with an alleged road rage incident.

It is alleged that:

On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at approximately 12:16 p.m., witnesses observed an older model blue Dodge Caravan driving recklessly westbound on highway #1 between the North End Chelsey Drive on ramp and the Fairville Boulevard Exit 117.

The van was allegedly travelling at a high rate of speed and cutting off vehicles.

The van nearly collided with a gold Chevrolet Aveo also travelling westbound on highway #1.

The driver of the van stopped his vehicle on the highway and ran towards the Aveo while armed with a weapon.

The Aveo then struck the driver of the van who was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The 35-year-old driver of the van was issued appearance notices for criminal mischief and operating a vehicle upon a highway without due care and without reasonable consideration for others under the Motor Vehicle Act of New Brunswick. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on February 27, 2024.

No other injuries were reported during the incident.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam of the incident at the time it occurred.
