(Update) Recovered Human Remains Saint John River

Found human remains located in the water near Reversing Falls have been identified as 57-year-old George Touhakis.

The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit, in cooperation with the Coroner’s Office, are investigating the discovery of a body along the Saint John River.

It is reported that:

On Friday, June 07, 2024, at approximately 9:29 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of human remains in the water near Reversing Falls.

The Saint John Police and Saint John Fire Department assisted in recovering the remains from the water. The Major Crime Unit, Forensic Services, and the Coroner were called to the scene to investigate.

Cause, manner, and time of death is pending further investigation.

The Major Crime Unit is gathering intelligence on missing person cases.

The Saint John Police recognizes that these discoveries are extremely difficult on families and friends of missing persons. Our team is working diligently with our partners and forensic experts to identify the human remains.
