The AWLE Leadership Award recognizes female law enforcement officers who have distinguished themselves through exceptional accomplishments or sustained leadership contributions. Recipients demonstrate excellence in areas such as problem-solving, planning and organizational skills, communication, positive role modelling, and administrative leadership, while making significant contributions to their agency and the law enforcement profession. Detective Sergeant Tammy Spence (Retired) is a highly respected police leader whose 30-year career has been defined by her dedication to public safety, intelligence-led policing, and the mentorship of fellow officers. As the first female officer to lead an Integrated Enforcement Unit in New Brunswick, she successfully directed complex organized crime and drug investigations while building strong partnerships throughout the community.
The Saint John Police Force extends its sincere congratulations to Detective Sergeant Spence (Retired) on this outstanding achievement and thanks her for her decades of service to the community and the profession.
