The body of 75-year-old Brian Lynch who was reported missing on July 22, 2024, has been located.
A joint rescue coordination team including Saint John Police, Saint John Fire Department, the Canadian Coast Guard, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), CFB Greenwood Search and Rescue, and the J Division RCMP Dive Team, conducted an extensive search of the shoreline and waters by boat and helicopter.
Tragically, the body was discovered late in the afternoon of July 23, 2024. The family of the deceased has been notified and are being provided with support during this difficult time.
The Saint John Police would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We would also like to express our gratitude to all the agencies involved in the search operation for their swift and coordinated efforts.
The area has now been reopened to the public. The community is thanked for their cooperation and patience during the search efforts.

A search operation is currently underway for a missing person along the shoreline and waters near the 40-block of Beach Road
It is reported that:
On Monday, July 22, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a missing man near the 40-block of Beach Road.
It was reported that a 75-year-old man, was last seen in his boat tying up to a buoy offshore. The man has grayish-black receding hair, wearing water shoes, shorts, a dark shirt and a diabetic patch on his left shoulder.
A joint rescue coordination team including Saint John Police, Saint John Fire Department, the Canadian Coast Guard, and the RCMP Dive Team responded to the scene to assist with a search of the shoreline and waters by boat and helicopter.
At this time, search efforts are on-going. The public are asked to please avoid the area.
