(Update #2) Seeking Witnesses and Suspects in Aggravated Assault – Princess/ Water Street

Update #2 – March 21, 2023 at 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit arrested a fourth suspect in connection with this assault. A 20-year-old man was arrested for aggravated assault and later released from custody on an undertaking with conditions, including to return to court on June 13, 2023. No further arrests are anticipated at this time.

Update – March 17, 2023, at 10:46 a.m.

With the assistance of the public, the two individuals in the photographs have been identified. On Thursday, March 16, 2023, the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit located and arrested a 24-year-old man for Aggravated Assault and a 20-year-old man for Attempted Murder.

Both men will appear in court today, Friday, March 17, 2023.

The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit is seeking suspects and witnesses to a stabbing in the area of Princess Street near Water Street in Uptown Saint John.

It is reported that:

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, at approximately 12:50 a.m., the Saint John Police responded to a stabbing on Princess Street near Water Street.

Officers arrived to find a 20-year-old man, who appeared to have been stabbed, laying on the sidewalk injured. The man was transported and remains in hospital with serious injuries.

After speaking with witnesses, officers entered a nearby bar and arrested a 19-year-old man for aggravated assault. He was later released from custody on an undertaking to appear in court on June 13, 2023.

The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Services were called to investigate, and the investigation is ongoing. Police believe that there are at least two other suspects involved in the incident.

Suspect #1 is believed to be a Caucasian man, 20-30 years of age, slim build, wearing a dark ball cap with a white logo on the front and long hair curling at the back, black sweatshirt, light jeans, black and white sneakers.

Suspect #2 is also believed to be a Caucasian man, 20-30 years of age, slim build, taller than suspect #1, closely cropped beard, red ball cap with logo, light jeans sagging significantly below the waist, black sweatshirt with a white logo, and white sneakers. Suspect #2 was seen in the company of another man wearing rubber boots.

There were reportedly multiple people in the area at the time the incident. Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has photographs or video of the incident at the time it occurred.
