The Saint John Police, in partnership with The ONE Change Inc., are launching a new Senior Safety Education Program, a six-part initiative aimed at helping seniors stay alert, stay safe, and stay connected.
Seniors are frequently targeted by frauds and scams which can lead to significant financial and emotional harm. These incidents not only affect the individuals involved but also their families and the broader community. This program aims to provide practical support, clear information, and empowering tools to help seniors feel secure at home, in their neighbourhoods, and during daily activities.
The program will be delivered by a Saint John Police Neighbourhood Officer. Each session will offer straightforward, actionable guidance that participants can apply immediately. Topics include recognizing common scams, protecting personal information, and increasing personal awareness in everyday situations. Seniors will also have the opportunity to ask questions, voice their concerns, and engage directly with the officer leading the sessions.
“Saint John Police are always looking to partner with organizations where we can enhance the safety and security of our community. This is another example of that type of initiative.” Chief R. M. Bruce
Together a safe, secure, healthy community
