Sexual Assault Investigation

The Saint John Police are investigating allegations of a sexual assault involving a woman and an unidentified man.

It is alleged that:

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at approximately 2:50 p.m., a 50-year-old woman was walking on a trail near Lily Lake when she passed by an unknown man.

She then heard footsteps approaching her from behind before being grabbed and taken to the ground by the unknown man who attempted to sexually assault her.

She was able to escape and contact police. The area was searched by officers with the assistance of the canine unit. The suspect has not been located or identified.

The man is described as skinny, white, pale, no teeth, approximately 30 years old, with brown hair, brown eyes, and stubble. He was wearing dirty sweatpants and a t-shirt.

No serious physical injuries were sustained.

Police will doing extra patrols in the area where the incident occurred and are encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity they observe in the area.
