May 15, 2025
On May 14, 2025, a 17-year-old youth, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently remanded into custody and his next appearance is Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
On May 15, 2025, 30-year-old Sheldon Scrubb appeared in Provincial Court and was charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently remanded into custody and his next appearance is Thursday, May 22, 2025.

May 14, 2025
On May 14, 2025, at 4:23 p.m. the Saint John Police with the assistance of the Kennebecasis Regional Police apprehended the third suspect without incident. He will be appearing in Provincial Court on May 15, 2025.

Update #3: 1:24 p.m.
May 14, 2025
On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, 20-year-old Hayden Donald-Bentley appeared in Provincial Court and was charged with first-degree murder. He was subsequently remanded into custody and his next appearance is Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
Another suspect, a youth, has been arrested, is currently in police custody, and will be appearing in Provincial Court.
The third suspect has been identified and remains at large at this time. The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
The Saint John Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and cooperation during this investigation.

Update: 2:45 p.m.

One male in police custody.
Alert is being lifted, we would like to thank the public for their cooperation and patience during this time.
The investigation is ongoing. Based on the current information police have, we believe this to be an isolated incident.

The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit are seeking witnesses and information in connection with a shooting on Carmarthen Street at King Street East.
It is reported that:
On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at approximately 10:28 a.m., police responded to a report of a shots fired in the area.
Officers located a deceased 20-year-old male in a vehicle. Next of Kin have been notified.
Three suspects were seen leaving the area on foot headed down Carmarthen Street towards Union Street.
Descriptions of the three suspects are as follows:
1-male, Caucasian, wearing a dark jacket, brown hair
2-male, non-white, wearing a light blue hoody with dark pants
3-male, Caucasian, wearing dark clothing
A a precautionary measure, the Saint John Police contacted the schools in the area to be placed on lock down.
A request to “shelter in place” was sent and the area has been contained as officers continue to investigate and gather evidence. An alert ready was issued for the area.
The Saint John Police currently have resources deployed from Patrol Services, Emergency Tactical Services, Intergrated Enforcement Unit, Forensics Identification Unit, and the Major Crime Unit.
No arrest has been made at this point.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage or surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
