Shooting Investigation – Duke Street South

The Saint John Police Major Crime Unit are seeking witnesses and information in connection with an early morning shooting on Duke Street South

It is reported that:

On Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at approximately 2:51 a.m., police responded to a report that someone was shot in the 200-block of Duke Street South.

On arrival, officers located a 30-year-old man who had allegedly been shot. He was transported to hospital and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers including the canine unit searched the area and arrested four youth who remain in custody: two 15-year-old and two 16-year-old boys. One 15-year-old was arrested in possession of a firearm.

No charges have been laid at this time as the Major Crime Unit continues to investigate. Further information to follow.  

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
