The Saint John Police referred an investigation to the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) following a public complaint received against a Saint John Police officer.
It is reported that:
On February 20, 2025, the Saint John Police Professional Standards Unit received a public complaint against a Saint John Police officer.
On February 24, 2025, as a result of the initial investigation and due to the nature of the allegations, the matter was referred to SiRT.
SiRT is an investigative agency, independent of the police, whose mandate is to investigate matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and domestic violence or other matters of significant public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer.
SiRT has concluded their investigation. As a result, a Sergeant with 37-years of service with the Saint John Police has been charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Breach of Public Trust, contrary to section 122 of the Criminal Code of Canada

The Sergeant was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on November 13, 2025.
As the matter is now before the courts, no further details will be released at this time.
The officer will be suspended from his duties as a police officer, pending the criminal proceedings. Once the criminal court proceedings have concluded, a New Brunswick Police Act investigation will follow.
The Saint John Police Force remains confident in the judicial process and will provide an update to the public as we move forward. “The Saint John Police hold our members to the highest standard of accountability.
