Suspicious Activity Results in a Large Seizure of Drugs and a Firearm

The Saint John Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a large seizure of drugs and possession of a firearm.

It is reported that:

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, at approximately 4:23 a.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious activity on Brunswick Drive.

On arrival, police were alerted to a vehicle parked on someone’s private property.  Officers reportedly found a 21-year-old man sleeping in the passenger seat and a number of beer cans in the vehicle.

When the suspect was detained by police, officers discovered a large amount of currency and a handgun in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and a search of the vehicle led to an additional seizure of evidence including, but not limited to:

Ammunition
269 grams of substance believed to be crack cocaine
1.5 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine
282 grams of a substance believed to be cannabis
$10,575.91 in Canadian Currency

The suspect was arrested for weapons offences and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine. The accused later appeared in court and was released on an undertaking to return to court on January 9, 2024.

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.
