The Saint John Police Force welcomed four new officers to its ranks on Friday, June 13, 2025. The swearing in ceremony was held at the Saint John Police Headquarters where the officers took the oath of office and the oath of secrecy.

Constables Cayla Chesser, Keyla Nerys, Rodrigo Silva, and Matthew Watson are all officers who were selected by the recruitment team and sponsored to go to the Atlantic Police Academy, where they have recently completed six months of training.  Notably, two of the new members began their journey by attending our Inclusion and Diversity Recruitment Camps in 2024.

As an organization, we have high expectations of our newest members. We trust they will serve our community with the same standards of honour, pride, selflessness, courage, discipline, and accountability that the people of Saint John have come to expect.

The new constables begin their duties effective immediately.

“We are very proud of our newest members. Each of them brings a uniqueness that will have a positive impact on our service delivery as we continue to focus on community engagement and keeping our city safe, secure and healthy.” Chief Robert M. Bruce
