Update – Courtney MacKenzie Investigation

The Saint John Police have arrested a 34-year-old woman for improperly interfering with human remains in connection with the investigation into the death of Courtney MacKenzie.

The woman was also arrested in connection with four other ongoing police investigations. She was subsequently released from custody on an undertaking with a number of conditions, including to return to court on July 25, 2023, and October 4, 2023.

A 36-year-old man was also arrested and later released without charges at this time.

Again, the Saint John Police would like to thank the family and public for their patience during this lengthy and complex investigation.

Update: September 1, 2021, 2:30 p.m.

Saint John Police Force’s Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Courtney MacKenzie, found deceased on May 11th, 2021, at a residence on Victoria Street, in the North End of Saint John, New Brunswick. 

Currently, the Major Crime Unit is investigating indignity to a dead human body. Homicide has not been ruled out.

The investigation continues to evolve as investigators are diligently interviewing witnesses, reviewing physical and electronic records, as well as collecting and analyzing forensic evidence.

Saint John Police Force would like to thank the family and public for their patience as investigations of this nature are often complex and lengthy.
