File# 23-2435 Break and Enter Investigation

On Monday, April 24, 2023, at approximately 1:08 a.m., police were called to a break and enter in progress at a business in the 300-block of Rothesay Avenue. The caller reported that they were remotely alerted by video surveillance that there was a suspect breaking into their business. Police arrived to find the suspect had fled and items were missing from the business. Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

File# 23-2402 Impaired Driver Arrested Following Collision

On Friday, April 21, 2023, at approximately 11:13 p.m., police were called to a single vehicle collision at a residence in the 300-block of Red Head Road. It was alleged that the suspect vehicle left the roadway colliding with a parked motorcycle, a parked vehicle and house on private property causing substantial damage. No injuries were reported. A 27-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, and assaulting a peace officer. She was later released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

File#23-2401 Break and Enter Investigation

On Friday, April 21, 2023, at approximately 9:58 p.m., police responded to a break and enter in progress at a business in the 30-block of Duke Street in the South End. The owner called 911 after he was remotely alerted by video surveillance that were at least two people inside his business. Police arrived to find that the suspects had fled and items were missing from the business. Police continue to investigate. Anyone that may recognize the suspects in the photographs or anyone with information is asked to call police.

File#23-2400 Robbery Investigation (ARRESTED)

Update: May 5, 2023, 12:01 p.m.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., as a result of an on-going investigation by the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit, a 45-year-old man was arrested in St. Stephen with the assistance of the RCMP. He was arrested for the following offences:

File #23-2633 – arrested for robbery and disguise with intent that occurred on May 2, 2023, at a restaurant in the 300-block of Rothesay Avenue.

File #23-2400 – arrested for robbery and disguise with intent that occurred on April 21, 2023, at a restaurant on Somerset Street.

File #23-2254 – arrested for theft of a BBQ that occurred on April 17, 2023, on Parks Street.

The accused has been held in custody and he is expected to appear in court this afternoon, May 5, 2023.

On Friday, April 21, 2023, at approximately 10:18 p.m., police responded to a robbery at a restaurant on Somerset Street at Magazine Street. It is alleged that a Caucasian man wearing a mask robbed the store and fled on foot with an amount of cash. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as approximately 170 lbs, 5’4”-5’5”, straggly mid length brown hair wearing a dark blue hoody. The Major Crime Unit was called to investigate. No arrests have been made. Anyone who may recognize the suspect in the photographs or anyone with information, dash-cam footage or video surveillance in the area of the incident is asked to call police.
