The mandate of the Saint John Police Legal Counsel is to provide legal advice and guidance to police officers and departments in the areas of criminal law, constitutional law, civil liability, and labour law. The Legal Counsel is responsible for responding to legal inquiries from police officers and departments, as well as providing legal advice and opinion on any matter that may arise.
The Legal Counsel may also serve as a representative for the Saint John Police in any legal proceedings, including court appearances and negotiations. In addition, the Legal Counsel is responsible for reviewing and revising policies and procedures to ensure they adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
