Street Crime Unit (SCU)

The Saint John Police Street Crime Unit (SCU) is tasked with identifying, disrupting, and dismantling drug trafficking, weapons, and organized crime offences.

This team of specialized officers are trained in surveillance and drug techniques as well as undercover operations. They also provide investigative support for other units, including major crime investigations.

They work closely with the community and other law enforcement partners to gather intelligence and combat street level crime trends impacting our community.

Beginning in late 2022, the Saint John Police Street Crime Unit expanded to become a regional Integrated Enforcement Unit (IEU) consisting of officers from the Saint John Police, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, New Brunswick Justice and Public Safety and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. IEU is more coordinated approach to their mandate at a regional and provincial level.
