Through the investigation, it has been learned that the stabbing was an isolated incident; the suspect and the victim are known to each other.
This remains an active investigation with the Major Crime Unit.

The Saint John Police are investigating a report of a stabbing in the area of Douglas Avenue and Clarendon Street in Saint John.
It is reported that:
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Douglas Avenue and Clarendon Street.
Officers arrived on scene and located a 42-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries. He was transported to and remains in the hospital in critical condition.
The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Services were called to investigate. At this time, no arrests have been made.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area of Douglas Avenue and Clarendon Street who may have dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
