(UPDATE) Murder Investigation

Update #2: October 28, 2025, at 3:20 p.m. 

On Monday, October 27, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., as result of an on-going investigation, the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.), arrested a 35-year-old male in the area of Richmond Street in Saint John without incident.  

The male was charged and held for first degree murder.  Hunter Floyd appeared in Provincial Court this morning, October 28, 2025, and was held in custody.  His next court appearance is November 18, 2025. 

The investigation is on-going.

Update: October 21, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. 

On Monday, October 20, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., as result of an on-going investigation, the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the Saint John Police Street Crime Integrated Enforcement Unit (I.E.U.), arrested a 36-year-old male suspect inside a business on University Avenue in Saint John without incident.  

The male was charged and held for first degree murder, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and breach of a probation order.  He will appear in Provincial Court in the afternoon of October 21, 2025. 

The investigation is on-going.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, at approximately 00:17 a.m., the Saint John Police responded to a 911 call involving a weapon in the area of Taylor Avenue in Saint John. 

Officers arrived and located an unconscious 41-year-old male who had sustained serious injuries, being attended to. Additional emergency responders attended to assist, and the victim was transported to hospital. Subsequently, the victim was pronounced deceased.  

This is an active and ongoing investigation. At this time in the investigation, police believe this to be an isolated incident. No arrests have been made at this time. 

Saint John Police Forensic Identification Services and the Major Crime Unit in cooperation with the Coroner’s Office continue to investigate. Police remain on scene as officers continue to collect evidence. 

Police are also looking into another incident that occurred at 00:37 a.m. on Foster Thurston Drive which is believed to be connected. We are requesting the public in the area to check their video footage to see if they have captured anyone on their security cameras. 

The Saint John Police send our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased during this most difficult time.
