(ARRESTED) Police Operation Wright Street

Update: March 7, 2025, at 9:09 p.m.

On March 7, 2025, at approximately 12:20 p.m., an 18-year-old man surrendered to police following nearly twelve hours of negotiations. The accused appeared in provincial court earlier today charged for having possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.  

The accused was remanded to jail and will return to court Monday, March 10, 2025, for a bail hearing.

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.

There is a current police operation on Wright Street. Officers including the Emergency Tactical Service, k9 and negotiators are on site. 

The following streets are closed:  

Wright Street between Gooderich Street and Stanley Street are closed to through traffic. 

Residents on Wright Street are asked to remain inside their residences. Please avoid the area. 

It is reported that: 

  • On March 06, 2025, at 11:45 p.m. patrol officers responded to a call for service on Wright Street. 
  • Upon arrival police located a male that has since barricaded himself inside the residence with a firearm.
