The Saint John Police have arrested a 16-year-old male youth for a sexual assault on a 4-year-old female child.
It is alleged that:
On Sunday, February 02, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to reports of a fight at a trampoline park on the East side of Saint John.
A female witness heard children yelling and observed a male youth assaulting a young female child.
The accused then assaulted the 24-year-old female witness who came to the assistance of the young victim.
Other patrons then intervened until an off-duty police officer, who happened to be at the park, overheard a commotion and immediately responded, arrested the accused and took him into custody until uniformed officers arrived at scene.
The child victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening physical injuries and was later released. The adult victim, who came to the assistance of the child sustained minor physical injuries.
The business was closed for the remainder of the day while the Saint John Police Forensics Identification Services processed the scene and detectives from both the Major Crime Unit and the Family Protection Unit interviewed witnesses.
Members of the Saint John Police Force Victim Services Unit were also on scene to support staff and witnesses following the incident.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
