As a result of the Back‑to‑School Safety Campaign, 21 violations and 17 warnings were issued in school zones by our officers.
Although this campaign has wrapped up, the Saint John Police remains committed to school zone safety throughout the academic year.

The Saint John Police will be conducting a Back-to-School Safety Campaign between September 2nd and 5th, 2025. With the excitement of children going back to school is it incumbent upon drivers to be vigilant and aware of road safety.
Through education and enforcement, our Quick Reaction Team and Traffic Management Officers will focus on school zones and bus routes where driving offences endanger students, pedestrians, and the motoring public.
“Nearly a quarter of drivers report witnessing a near miss or collision in a school zone, more than half of which involved a child. The top 3 unsafe motorist behaviours seen in Canadian school zones are speeding, illegal parking/stopping, and distracted driving.” (CAA National, 2019)
The Saint John Police would like to remind the public that within our city, all school zones have a maximum speed limit of 30 km/h. Also, that most fine amounts are doubled in school zones and for overtaking a school bus with flashing red lights.
Together a safe, secure, healthy community
