Off-Road Vehicle Use in Saint John

Share:

The Saint John Police have responded to a growing number of complaints in recent weeks concerning individuals operating all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), dirt bikes, and other off-road vehicles in residential areas.

The operation of these vehicles on city streets, sidewalks, and in residential neighbourhoods not only disturbs the peace, but is also illegal and is dangerous to both the riders and the community.

The Saint John Police are encouraging riders to:

  • Always wear an approved helmet and protective gear.
  • Operate only in permitted areas and follow trail regulations.
  • Ride sober — never under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Avoid excessive speeds and risky maneuvers.
  • Supervise young riders and ensure they are using age-appropriate vehicles.

We would also like to remind the public to refrain from taking ATVs, dirt bikes, and other off-road vehicles on trails at this time as an added precaution due to the closure of Crown lands and the province-wide burn ban in place.

“Riders should enjoy the adventure, but do so while respecting others, the laws, and the environment.” Chief R.M. Bruce

Anyone who sees or has information about illegal or dangerous operation of an off-road vehicle is asked to contact the Saint John Police at 1-506-648-3333 or report it online on our website at Saint John Police Force | City of Saint John, New Brunswick. Together a safe, secure, healthy community
