On May 25, 2025, the individual who was involved in the collision involving the pedestrian and his dog have identified themself to police. The individual has been issued New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act violations for failing to remain at the scene of an accident as well as failure to yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian legally crossing a roadway.

The Saint John Police are seeking to identify the driver and vehicle involved in a collision involving a pedestrian and his dog.
It is reported that:
On Monday, May 12, 2025, at approximately 4:03 p.m., the Saint John Police received a traffic complaint regarding a 69-year-old male who was walking his dog through a crosswalk at the intersection of Wyatt Crescent and Heather Way. The male’s dog who was on leash behind him was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk and succumbed to his injuries. The male who was walking his dog is visually impaired, had a white cane, and traffic safety vest on. The incident happened between 3:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
