The Saint John Police is launching the Safe Neighbourhood Camera Registry (SNCR), an initiative designed to support investigations and strengthen partnerships between police and the public.
This free and voluntary program gives residents and businesses the opportunity to inform police if they have an outward-facing exterior security camera. Signing up for this program would enable police to quickly identify individuals who may have video footage in an area where an incident has taken place, streamlining investigations and allowing officers to gather evidence more efficiently.
The SNCR will not only assist in reducing time and resources spent on canvassing for information when crime, missing persons, or other public safety concerns occur, but will also improve response times and overall public safety outcomes. By participating, community members play an active role in keeping their neighbourhoods safe.
The Saint John Police is asking for the community’s support and cooperation as we roll out this program. Collaboratively, with the help of residents and local business owners, we can create a safer community.
“Policing is a collective effort through collaboration and partnerships. The SNCR initiative provides another opportunity for the Saint John Police to work together with our citizens to provide a safe, secure, healthy city.” Chief R.M. Bruce
